A heartfelt thank you for supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month
As we step into November and embrace the Thanksgiving season, we are reminded of the importance of gratitude and the power of giving back. In the spirit of this special time, we would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to you, our kind and honey-loving community, for your support during Breast Cancer Awareness Month this past October.
During October, we donated $10 from every sale over $100 to the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation’s cancer patient transfer service. On Wednesday 1 November, we were honoured to hand over $3,080, and it’s all thanks to your kindness and generosity.
Administered by the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation, the Cancer Patient Transport Service plays a crucial role in the lives of many. It provides transportation to and from hospitals for chemotherapy, radiation therapy, tests, and appointments.
This service facilitates approximately 6,500 journeys to the hospital each year, offering much-needed support to around 1,500 cancer patients across the Gold Coast. This vital service is made possible thanks to the generous contributions of the Gold Coast community and the foundation’s corporate partners and for those who are too ill to drive or cannot afford transportation, it’s a lifeline.
Did you know:
- Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer amongst women in Australia.
- 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
- 1 in 600 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
- Breast cancer incidence has increased by 33% in the last 10 years alone.
Prevention is always better than cure, so we encouraged everyone not to delay booking a breast cancer check. A mammogram every 2 years is the best way to detect breast cancer early and improve outcomes.
Our previous blog post delves into the promising potential of Manuka honey as a natural approach to support treatment and recovery from various types of cancer. Explore the full article, Cancer: Manuka Benefits in Cancer Recovery, to discover more benefits about Manuka honey.
As we celebrate the season of gratitude and giving, we want you to know that Breast Cancer Awareness Month might be behind us, but our support for this important cause continues. Together, we’re stronger in the fight against breast cancer.
